Daniel
serves in our arbitration department. He is regularly occupied with complex
construction and property development disputes relating to high profile
arbitration matters in Dubai and involving major property developers in the
real estate market. Daniel advised and managed a AED 45 million dispute between
a major property developer and management company, based in Dubai, which
resulted a settlement in the clients favour.
Daniel
has broad ranging legal experience in the UAE, including drafting legal
opinions advising on UAE legislation, UAE case law, arbitration agreements,
jurisdiction and potential claims with the focus being practical legal advice,
the commercial perspective of the client and the most viable course of action
to be pursued.
He
advises on arbitrations and procedures in the UAE’s most prominent arbitration
forums including; the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), the Dubai
International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts and Arbitration centre and the Abu
Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC) together with the
enforcement of arbitration awards in the UAE. Daniel advises on numerous
construction law cases and has instructed a major Dubai based logistics
company, on a AED 25 million construction dispute with a contractor.
Daniel
has a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Stellenbosch and is an
admitted attorney in the High Court of South Africa. He is passionate about
alternative dispute resolution with considerable experience in the resolution
of disputes in commercial, construction and real estate related matters.
