Mohamed is a member of the litigation department at
Horizons & Co, with over twenty five years of experience in both Egypt and the
UAE, specifically in arbitration and litigation. He is routinely involved with
cases before the courts and arbitration tribunals in the UAE and is an expert
in procedural matters involving the ratification & enforcement of arbitral
awards in the UAE including; civil, commercial, construction, and real estate,
criminal, labour & personal matters.
He has participated in many complex
banking cases and commercial disputes regarding oil trade and distribution
contracts. Mohammed has successfully defended the position of several high-profile
clients against international oil companies, and in many commercial and civil
Mohamed extends valuable support to the arbitration
department to ensure full compliance with procedural and merits law in UAE.
Mohamed previously lectured during arbitrators’ qualification courses in Egypt
and Jordan and participated in many specialised legal conferences. He presented
two research papers; “The Concept of Arbitration” and “Invalidation of
Arbitration Awards” with a special focus on the follow up and commentary on
arbitration awards and new researches in this field. While contributing to the
establishment of some notable arbitration centres, he represented clients in
various matters before arbitration panels in both Egypt and the UAE. He is a
recognised expert in procedural issues including the management and follow up
of arbitration disputes.
Prior to joining Horizons & Co, Mohamed worked
as a legal consultant for prestigious law firms and companies in Dubai. Mohamed
was a lawyer for more than a decade in Egypt and a founder and arbitrator of
the Arab Society of International Arbitration.
Mohamed graduated from Alexandria University in 1991
with a Bachelor of Law, he was admitted to the Egyptian Bar Association in the
same year. In 2003 he received his Maritime Law Diploma from the Arab Academy
for Maritime Transport and has acted as an Arbitrator and an Arbitration Lecturer.
