Stephen joined Horizons & Co
as a legal consultant in the arbitration team. Having previously worked as a Barrister
in London he brings an impressive expertise in complex commercial and civil
disputes, litigation and arbitration.
Predominantly focused on complex
construction and contractual disputes, Stephen advises a number of high profile
clients, including major property developers in the Dubai real estate market.
He is experienced in giving clear and practical advice on the complicated
jurisdictional, procedural and substantive issues that frequently arise in high
value arbitrations as well as drafting pleadings and submissions, and
representing clients at tribunal hearings.
In addition to the enforcement
of arbitration awards in the UAE, Stephen advises on arbitrations and
procedures in the UAE’s most prominent arbitration forums including the Dubai
International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), the Dubai International Financial
Centre (DIFC) Courts and Arbitration Centre and the Abu Dhabi Commercial
Conciliation and Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC).
Stephen has extensive experience
in commercial and civil litigation in various other jurisdictions, particularly
within the fields of banking and financial services. He has represented clients
before a number of courts and tribunals, including the High Court in England
& Wales, and has successfully acted for clients in various contractual and
employment disputes, including the successful defence of a shareholder action
against a major UK plc.
Stephen has a first-class degree in History from Oxford University, UK.
He completed his Graduate Diploma in Law with distinction, and achieved an
outstanding grade in the Bar Professional Training Course.
Stephen was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn and is a member of the
Commercial Bar Association.
