Joe is a senior associate in our Litigation Department with over sixteen years of experience in the legal industry in a range of Middle Eastern jurisdictions including Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

He has impressive expertise in different facets of law within high-profile law firms and corporations, where he represented and advised clients – among other things - on civil and commercial law, construction, arbitration law, and bankruptcy proceedings. He is especially adept at advising and negotiating on disputes, including on managing disputes and advising on risk.
Joe often handles day-to-day legal matters, managing the client and team relationship and ensuring the client is kept informed of all legal developments and costs related to their cases. He excels in writing and oral presentation, and is proficient in English, Arabic, and French.

Experience highlights

  • Representing clients in civil matters i.e. payment defaults by the employer in construction matter, default in fulfilling the obligation by the contractor, i.e. construction, software development projects, etc. In addition to facts determination cases to proof damages, or to audit companies balance sheets, etc.
  • Claiming compensation for sustained damages caused by default in fulfilling the obligation by the defendant, i.e. the non-transfer of the property in real estate matters, lost of profit, etc.
  • Representing clients in corporate disputes, i.e. shareholders disputes, dividends claim, non-transparency in balance sheets, default payment for sold shares by the purchasers.
  • Representing the clients in commercial disputes, i.e. agency, loan, distributions, etc.
  • Representing clients in rental disputes, i.e. contract renewal, payment default, contract termination.
  • Representing clients in bankruptcy matters, i.e. filing claims to have debts recognized.
  • Representing clients in employment disputes, either from the employer or employee side.
  • Representing clients in real estate matters, i.e. purchaser claiming compensation for non-transfer of the property by the seller in accordance with the SPA, assisting clients with a swap of properties granted by the Ruler of Dubai.
  • Enforcement of foreign judgments and awards.
  • Representing and supporting international law firms in arbitration proceedings subject to the UAE laws in terms of legal advice and recourse to local courts when required, i.e. interim measures, challenging arbitral awards, calling bonds issues, enforcement etc.
  • Representing and assisting federal authorities with their disputes against individuals and legal entities.
