Mahmoud is a member of our Litigation Department. He has almost two decades of experience within the UAE and across the wider region in advising clients on their contentious cases. He has particular experience on onshore litigation in the UAE, both in the different Emirates and the Federal Courts.

He focuses on infrastructure, banking and finance, real estate and construction dispute resolution, and has been closely involved in numerous high value cases before the various courts. He has particular experience acting for banks and financial institutions in local disputes concerning Islamic finance issues, especially Murabaha and Salam.

Having been intimately involved in a number of cases before both courts and arbitration tribunals in the UAE, Mahmoud’s expertise extends across civil, commercial, construction, real estate, penal, labour, and private client-related issues.

Experience highlights

  • A commercial bank in Dubai in an employment dispute brought by a former senior manager alleging wrongful dismissal.
  • Islamic bank in a dispute involving an infrastructure financing agreement. The court ruled in our client’s favour resulting in the recovery of significant damages.
  • An insurance claim dispute in which a bank was seeking a payout for damage to its commercial properties caused by a natural disaster. Secured a full settlement after proving that the insurance company was liable under the policy terms.
  • A UAE bank in a high-stakes litigation over a faulty real estate transaction. The expert findings aligned with our case, resulting in a favourable court decision.
  • Multiple banks in the UAE on the nullification of debtors' transactions and the enforcement and execution of judgments on assets to recover debts.
  • A financial services company in a dispute whereby the company was accused of misrepresenting investment performance. Successfully demonstrated that the claims were baseless, and the case was dismissed.
  • A Saudi National against a prominent property management company for unlawful termination, and failure to pay several mandatory statuary dues.
  • An Islamic bank in an AED multi-million Islamic finance dispute concerning Murabaha transactions.
  • A major GCC real estate developer in a case involving construction delays and contractual disputes, securing a favourable judgment before the Dubai Courts.
  • A UAE bank in a complex case involving Salam financing for a development project, ensuring compliance with Sharia law and achieving a successful result for our client.
