Mohamed is a Partner at Horizons & Co., with noted experience in the construction and real estate sectors where he has advised clients on numerous high-stakes disputes. He is also renowned for advising on employment and white-collar crime cases. With more than twenty years of practising in both the UAE and Egypt, he is a highly skilled litigator across both commercial, criminal, and civil disputes, and also has notable arbitration expertise.

Mohamed particularly specialises in cases relating to construction and real estate disputes, representing high-profile Middle Eastern and international clients, ranging from developers and construction companies to contractors and subcontractors. He has a very strong track record of representing clients in labour and employment contentious matters, insurance-related disputes and fraud and criminal matters, both for entities and private clients.

He is very much involved in cases before all levels of the courts and arbitration tribunals. He has an unsurpassed understanding of UAE administrative laws and proceedings and frequently represents government and semi-government agencies as well as clients in relation to disputes arising out of administrative functions of various departments and their contracts.

  • A polyester company in relation to an AED 3 billion bankruptcy dispute and presenting the restructuring plan to UAE Courts for approval.
  • One of the renowned Big Four audit firms on their liability and obligations under UAE law during the winding-up applications of one of the main commodity trading firms in the region.
  • A Middle East-based joint venture in relation to a very high-value and complex insurance claim. The opponent claimed for the recovery of their insured losses, over AED 1 billion, relating to a 2015 hotel fire in the UAE. The claim involved not only our client, but all of the sub-contractors, consultants and suppliers involved in the construction of the hotel.
  • A Middle East contractor on a dispute valued at AED 98 million against the main contractor in relation to a large residential real estate project in the UAE.
  • San Jose and others as the defendants and counterclaimants in an ongoing dispute before the Abu Dhabi courts, in relation to the construction of a building for one of the most famous European museums in Abu Dhabi; the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
  • A multinational contractor successfully on a dispute arising from an EPC contract in relation to multiple construction projects at eight ports across the UAE.
  • A GCC headquartered logistics company headquartered in the UAE on its dispute against a leading multinational company in relation to its licensing operations in Saudi Arabia.
  • Arabtec Construction & Belhasa Six Construct as the defendants in a multi-billion insurance claim over a fire incident at one of Dubai’s most prestigious hotels.
  • A Middle East-based contractor in relation to an AED 55 million plus claim regarding delayed payments by the employer, one of the largest developers in the UAE.
